Dearest fanboys,
Hi there! I am comic/genre fan just like you. Like you I have been reading comics for many many moons now. I was with you in your dislike for the original Captain America movie or the Corman Fantastic Four. More recently I have seen comic adaptations like Elektra, both Fantastic Four films, the Punisher and Daredevil and found them lacking. (actually I warmed to the Daredevil directors cut in later years)
There is always a risk when it comes to translating our beloved characters to the big screen. Occasionaly they get it right; Spiderman, X2, Iron Man and we love the film makers for this. Sometimes they go beyond the comic and make extraordinary films like The Dark Knight and Del Toro's Hellboy films.
Please understand that translation from page to screen is a hard thing.
Sorry Mr. H
Its not creative license, its creative construction! Some film makers actually are making these films for love of the material. Yes, I know that many do it for the fame and money...hell I would do it for those as well. But many film makers just want to bring these great stories to new and broader audiences!
So please give the source materials a break. Films like Watchmen, X-Men Origins:Wolverine and hell even the new Star Trek are not gospel or classic literature where slight changes here or there are blasphemy. Enjoy the cinemtaic experience and if you can't live with a little change then don't bother viewing these films. Why put yourself through that torture?
Smooches!
